At 20 June 2019 – the day before the Smart City Event 2019 – we visited with a delegation of participants Sail at Scheveningen, a major international maritime ship event: a fleet of tall ships will sail to The Hague to round off the Liberty Tall Ships Regatta. The types of tall ships include Barques, Brigantines and Frigates, hailing from more than 15 countries. During the excursion there was a cruise with a ship at the sea and a tour at the Sail at Scheveningen Village.
After Sail at Scheveningen the delegation of participants visited The Hague Tech, a Tech Community and Workspace in the heart of the city The Hague where creative talent, businesses, government and research institutions come together. The delegation of participants also visited YES!Delft The Hague, Europe’s leading Tech incubator and accelerator. It provides tech startups with all services they need on their entrepreneurial journey: custom startup programs, full lifecycle services such as recruitment. The excursion ended with a visit to The Hague Security Delta, the biggest safety and security cluster in the world where government, knowledge institutions, corporates and startups work together at smart city solutions for safety and security challenges.
Another delegation visited The Beacon at the city of Antwerp. The Beacon is a partnership between the city of Antwerp, the Port of Antwerp, the University of Antwerp, the research centre IMEC and technology federation Agoria, managed by Co.Station. With a focus on Industry 4.0, logistics and Smart City, The Beacon is a place where unique collaboration around IoT and Artificial Intelligence is happening between researchers, startups and industry, all through value creation and open innovation. During the excursion there were several presentations about Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence and a tour at the Smart Zone.
