At HERE Technologies, we are building a digital representation of reality by combining all the world’s data, anchored by the one element that is critical in enabling the Autonomous World: location. We call it the Reality Index™. It is a data layer of everything, which can uncover insights that will improve every aspect of society. As a tool, it will help us build technologies that will improve the function of cities and businesses – at a fraction of the energy and environmental costs.

Shinto Labs

We believe that smart use of data helps us to create safer, cleaner, healthier and happier cities. Shintō Labs develops data-driven applications in ‘hyperloop’ speed. We use an approach based on the principles of design thinking and lean startup. With our Design Sprint we will go from societal challenge to validated prototype in five days! Our Shinto Analytics Platform enables us to scale up these applications as software-as-a-service. Check www.shintolabs.nl for our customer stories.

White paper: From social challenge to data-driven application in 5 days
In this white paper we describe an approach based on design thinking and the lean startup method. This approach is localized in the context of the government in which, among other things, the validation of data hypotheses, the determination of privacy consequences and the relationship of costs and benefits are made clear in the shortest possible time. If you want to know more, you can download the whitepaper here.

EUROCITIES is the network of major European cities, with over 135 members, representing more than 130 million people. We work in all areas of interest to cities, including culture, mobility, environment and knowledge society. We facilitate learning experiences between cities, and represent cities’ interests towards the European Union.

Smarter cities form an important strand of our work. We are involved in a number of EU-supported initiatives, such as the Green Digital Charter on ICT for energy efficiency, the CITYkeys project on smart city performance measurement, and the major Horizon 2020 project Sharing Cities. We also play an important role in shaping the smart cities agenda through our involvement in the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities, within which EUROCITIES leads the action cluster on business models, financing and procurement.

Through our knowledge society forum and associated working groups, our members work on topics such as data, standards and interoperability, and access to technology for citizens.
